Introduction: Stress is the physical, emotional and eager human response to a particular boost. Stress can be either positive or negative depending upon the stressor. Stress can affect anyone regardless of their gender. A positive stress increases the performance and achievements of students while negative stress decreases the efficiency and achievements of students. The perception of stress by each individual is affected by his age, gender, culture, circumstances etc. Stress can have disruptive influence on students future career by decreasing their learning ability and by decreasing their future productivity as well. The main purpose of this study is to compare the stress level related to future career among undergraduate boy and girl students.
Aim of the study: was to compare the level of stress related to future career among undergraduate boy and girl students at selected schools of Rayat Bahra University, Mohali.
Materials and Methods: A quantitative approach and comparative research design was used to conduct the study. Total 100 samples were selected by using convenient sampling technique. Self-structured rating scale was used for data collection and analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: The mean percentage of girls group is 59.10% while for the boys group it is 57.13%. The unpaired t-test yields a test value of 1.262 with a t value of 0.210. Since this t value is greater than table value of 0.05(1.984), the result is not significant. This means that there is no statistically significant difference in the stress score between the girls and the boys.
Conclusion: This study findings showed that there is more stress in girls group (59.10%) related to their future career as compared to boys group (57.13%).
