Background: Obsessive - compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic mental health illness characterized by recurrent obsession and/ or compulsion that are time consuming and cause distress or impair functioning. The main goal of the study was to assess the level of knowledge regarding management of obsessive-compulsive disorder among housewives. Methodology: The research design selected for the study was pre - experimental one group pre-test and post-test research design. A non - probability convenience sampling techniques was used to obtain sample of 100 housewives who satisfied the inclusion criteria. A self-administered structured knowledge Questionnaire is used for assessing knowledge on management of obsessive-compulsive disorder. This tool contains 30 items and the total score is 30. After assessing the pre - test stress level, on same day administering the structure knowledge questionnaire. Post test knowledge assessment was conducted on seventh day by administering the structure knowledge questionnaire. Results: Mean of the pre- test and post - test was (11.14) and (20.38) and Standard Deviation of the pre- test and post- test was (2.11) and (2.28). The Mean difference was (9.24). The calculated ‘t’ value (41.69) was greater than the table value (2.0) at 0.05 level of significance. This showed that there was a significant difference between pre - test and post - test knowledge score among housewives. Calculated chi square value was not significant with variables like Age, religion, education status, type of family and family income. Conclusion: From the result of study, it was concluded that the structured teaching programme was effective in management of obsessive-compulsive disorder among housewives.
